Scope and local coverage
A resin bound driveway is a mix of aggregate and resin trowelled onto a prepared base. The finished surface is only as good as what is under it, so most of the work on a resin drive is preparation.
Our resin systems use Daltex Base, Daltex aggregates and Daltex resins. We talk through colour and aggregate choices once we have seen the drive and the surrounding hard landscaping.
We are based in Northamptonshire. Bedford and Bedfordshire projects are taken on subject to scope and availability. Call to check your address.
What the work covers
- Assessment of the existing drive and what base is needed
- Edge restraints and levels set before any resin is mixed
- Daltex Base, aggregates and resins installed as a system
- Colour and aggregate guidance against your house and boundary materials
- Plain advice on drainage and what the council may want to see
What we check first
Base suitability
Resin needs a stable, correctly built base. Failed or moving surfaces are not a base.
Outfall
A permeable surface still needs somewhere for water to go. We ask what is below and beside the drive.
Weather window
Resin installs are weather sensitive, so dry conditions and timing matter.
Use
Cars only, or occasional heavier vehicles, affects the build-up we recommend.

Local planning and drainage notes
Front garden driveways: Planning Portal guidance
Planning Portal says a new or replaced impermeable driveway at the front of a house over 5 square metres usually needs planning permission unless rainwater drains to a lawn or border or the surface is permeable. Dropped kerbs and other restrictions may need separate approval, and flats, listed buildings and Article 4 areas are treated differently.

Bedford Borough Council has an adopted SuDS Supplementary Planning Document that describes the evidence planning applications should include. Resin bound surfacing is permeable only when it is a suitable full system over a suitable base with a suitable outfall. The material alone does not guarantee compliance.

Bedford and Bedfordshire visits are possible subject to project scope and availability. Northamptonshire is our core working area, so call us to discuss your site.
Is resin bound the same as permeable?
Not automatically. It depends on the whole build-up, base and where water drains to. The council SuDS guidance treats it as a system, not a material label.
What materials do you use?
Daltex Base, Daltex aggregates and Daltex resins.
Where was the pictured driveway?
A residential project in Bedfordshire. We do not name the town or the customer.
